The beginning

Somebody asked me recently what my first Angela live experience was. The place, the person and the way the question was asked brought back so many dear memories...
I remember that day as if it were yesterday. October 20, 2008. I first saw Angela live in Faust at Staatsoper Vienna. Back than it was an adventure for me to jump on a plane and go to Vienna to see an opera. None of my friends have ever done that. But I wanted too much to see her live to miss the chance. The rest is history. I could never be thankful enough for the way my life changed since then.

I have something I call "the bag of memories", aka a bag full of opera and concert tickets. I've never thrown away any of them. So here it is. The proof I wasn't dreaming.  For me it was an out of the world evening. It was... the beginning

Have a great weekend!

VIDEO - surprise guest at a charity gala in Bucharest, March 25

Angela Gheorghiu was the surprise guest of charity gala organized at the National Theatre in Bucharest on March 25. Together with Dan Grigore (piano), she performed Ochii albastri-s dragalasi by E. Caudella and Mandrulita de la munte by G. Stephanescu. You should have heard the waaaaaaaa in the venue when she entered the stage! There were five minutes of joy, perceived as five seconds!

Enjoy!

Angela Gheorghiu is The One

The One, April issue, is now on sale. The new photos are so beautiful! My boss, from behind my chair, was staring at this page. His reaction was genuine: she looks gorgeousssss! Yes boss, absolutely!
This photo below is my favorite. It has everything: attitude, character, delicacy, elegance, strength, that this-is-who-I-am look Love it! There are three more, all new.
I browsed the interview (it's in Romanian) and the questions don't seem to be innovative. A sort of review of what happened lately. I'll read everything later on.

Sunday dreaming

Call me a dreamer, but I can't get the recital out of my head. After all, opera makes you live in another world. About one week ago I received a card which I'm very thankful for. It's the essence of what I'm doing lately. Dreaming big crazy dreams. And some of them came true :)

Bare with me. I'm in a cheesy mood. Have a nice Sunday afternoon. I prepared some surprises for tomorrow so stay close!

When the piano meets the voice - recital in Los Angeles - PHOTOS

It was my dream to attend one of Angela's live recitals. You know the saying, be careful what you wish for, it might become true. That's exactly my case. Out of the blue, it was a dream week, something you'd never believe.

They were layers and layers of emotions, from the first note to the last one of the recital. The program at the Broad Stage included pieces by Rameau, Martini, Chopin, Bizet, Faure, Debussy, Rachmaninov, Enescu, Dragoi, Brediceanu, there was one hour and forty minutes of pure joy, four encores included.

Romanian music is special, she makes it special because there are certain gestures, movements of the body, sights and eye contact with the audience added that give even more sense to the words. There are all kind of feelings wrapped up in music: happiness, love, sadness, passion, shyness all delivered with that perfect voice so dear to me.

My favs? Sabin Dragoi's Crizanteme (Chrysanthemums), Martini's Plaisir d'amour and Chopin's Tristesse. It's subjective, I know. But I'll never forget the shivers these songs gave me. The crowd rewarded each and every song with tons of applauses and flowers. I wish it never ended. And I'm so looking forward to the recital at La Scala later this year.
